Mediterranean Project (MOIP)
Dear Colleagues,
It is a
personal pleasure for both of us to send you the full Report of the
recent Assembly of the MOIP network Societies held in Napoli last October,
with a picture taken during the event.
In this
very exciting and fruitful meeting great enthusiasm was indicated by
everybody towards the upcoming congress in Venice, May 8th -11th, 2008,
jointly organized by SIDO, SFODF and MOIP.
Many suggestions,
as you can see from the Report, have been put forward by the Assembly
to further develop and implement the Project. All participants agreed
on the suggestion to continue holding joint meetings among the interacting
Societies and a wish to host such events was indicated by a number of
Countries, such as Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Croatia and Slovenia.
Dr. Vassilios
Stathopoulos, representing the Greek Association for Orthodontic Study
and Research, reported on the wish of the GAOSR to hold a joint meeting
with the Cyprus Orthodontic Society and suggested a MOIP network Congress
on that occasion. Dr. Gerassimos Angelopulos , GAOSR President, confirmed
the plan in writing.
SIDO would
be very pleased to cooperate with GAOSR in jointly organizing the 2nd
MOIP Congress, but would strongly recommended to extend the cooperation
to all Greek Associations affiliated in the network.
The MOIP
network, started during the workshop organized by SIDO in Cairo (2005),
has further progressed with an open involvement of all Members and all
decisions have been shared during the last SIDO meetings in Florence
(2006) and Naples (2007).
We look
forward to our next Assembly, where we will openly discuss together
the future developments of this exciting joint project in education
and cultural sharing, and to welcoming you all in Venice at the 1st
MOIP Congress, during the SIDO/SFODF Congress on May 8th – 11th, 2008,
with the challenging theme "Efficiency Timing and the Future of
Orthodontics".
We trust
you will not mistake our jointly organized Congress with another Congress,
not organized by SIDO or SFODF or the MOIP, planned about one month
earlier, again in Venice.
We would
also like to express our deep regret at the letter you have received
from one of SIDO’s past-Presidents, Giuseppe Siciliani: the MOIP network
has always been a project shared with consideration and enthusiasm in
each step by both the SIDO Executive Councils and the Membership.
Looking
forward to hearing from you, with all your ideas and suggestions, we
trust in a very successful joint SIDO-SFODF-MOIP Congress in 2008.
With very best personal
wishes,
Alberto Laino
2006-2007 SIDO President
Claudio De Nuccio
2008-2009 SIDO President
