From 1979,training in dentistry at the Dental School, University of Graz. Received his D.M.D. in 1981, wasthen Assistant at the Department of Oral Surgery and the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery, Dental School, University of Graz. From February 1982, Assistant and, from 1987, Assistant Professor at the
Department of Orthodontics, Dental School, University of Graz. 1989 Qualification as University Lecture for Dentistry with special regard to Orthodontics. 1992 Full Professor and Head of Department of Orthodontics, Dental School, University of Vienna. Main fields of work; biomechanics, bonding techniques and material aspects. Since 1996 Chairman of the Austrian Society of Orthodontists. President of the 82nd Congress of the European Orthodontic Society, July 3 - 9, 2006 / Vienna. Authored and co-authored more than 115 publications and 7 textbook chapters.
